Safety & Emergency

Helicopter and ambulance emergency services are available from SHPG in the event of serious injury or accident.

The flight time for helicopter to Dunedin hospital 50 minutes.

SHPG has a trained ambulance officer on call to help with any minor to intermediate injury or accident and SHPG staff are onsite 7 days a week, 24 hours a day to assist in any emergency procedures.

There are medical staff on site at two nearby ski areas who can be called on in an emergency.

All medical costs relating to personal injury incurred through accident are covered by ACC (Accident Compensation Corporation) a New Zealand Government sponsored scheme.

ACC applies to all visitors and residents alike in New Zealand. We advise all visitors to be covered by their own insurance as ACC does not cover medical costs for illness / sickness.
