Internet
In 2008 SHPG invested heavily in installing the infrastructure to support a new fibre optic network. Data speed is now five times faster at 10Mbps with excellent connection stability. SHPG now has one of the fastest and most reliable internet connections in the South Island of New Zealand.

Cost

It is a user pays system and the payment plan for access to the fibre optic internet is as follows:

COST NZ 0.09 cents per MB

The following is a basic outline of the fibre connection details for this season:

• Connection Description - 10Mbps fibre optic delivered internet connection
• Static IP / VPN capable: Yes - on request
• Security: Full Hardware Firewall with Intrusion Detection. Locally every workshop will be separated from the other workshops by the network device. This means there is no ability for crossover- accidental or otherwise
• Email: pop3 / smtp allowed
• SMTP Server: smtp.xtra.co.nz
• FTP: allowed but rate QOS'd for quality control
• Blocked Traffic: the only actively blocked traffic is p2p
• Web Filter: we use a porn/ads/spy ware filter with mid level protection. If your legitimate web site is being blocked then please contact rob@wanakacomputers.co.nz with the details and it will be added to the allowed list.
• Local Network Side: Each workshop has between 8 & 16 x10/100 ethernet ports available. All workshops are blind to other workshops. Each workshop has automatic IP addressing meaning no configuration necessary (DHCP) expect in the case of Static IP / VPN setups.

All you need is a computer with a 10/100 network card and TCP/IP software installed. Local ethernet cables will be supplied.

Reporting:

The SHPG Admin office will receive a daily traffic report of all usage. This is for billing purposes. If you would like to check your own internet usage, please go to usage.hia.co.nz. This will tell you how many Mb you have used and the cost to date.

Phone and Fax Lines:
Access to analogue phone and fax lines is free but calls are logged and charged accordingly. Please don't forget to dial (1) to get an outside line for both fax/phone calls.

Mobile Phones:
Cell phones are rented at $15 per day.

Calls are charged at Vodafone corporate rates.

Calls made from your cell phone to another cell phone in your team are free. Calls made from your cell phone to SHPG staff cell phones are free. All other calls to cell phones and land lines are $0.38 per minute. Txts are $0.20 per message and free on Saturdays and Sundays.

Hand Held Radio Transceivers:
UHF hand held radios are rented at $17.50 per day. There is a set up fee of $20 per radio.
