High quality split Mu surfaces for real world testing
SHPG offers six outdoor split-mu surfaces, engineered with a range of ice, asphalt, and snow combinations for controlled mixed-friction testing. Typical surfaces measure 140–160 m in length, with 2–4 m wide asphalt with expertly prepared low-mu ice (0.1 Mu or lower). Transitions feature a clean jump edge to high-mu asphalt, enabling accurate testing of real-world split-friction scenarios. Inside our ice tunnel, we also offer an indoor split-mu surface for controlled all weather testing. Our newest facility, the Checkerboard, features offset snow and ice splits designed to rigorously challenge vehicle technology under complex mixed-friction conditions. All surfaces are continuously monitored and maintained to ensure repeatable and reliable assessment of vehicle stability and dynamics.
