SHPG is situated in the heart of New Zealand’s Southern Alps, a region that consistently delivers cold, snowy, sub-zero conditions from May to September. The region’s maritime-influenced climate provides short, intense weather systems followed by extended periods of clear, settled, low-temperature, low-humidity conditions—ideal for winter vehicle testing.
All SHPG facilities are land-based and fully supported by advanced snowmaking infrastructure, ensuring consistent, controlled testing surfaces regardless of natural snowfall variability. Unlike lake-based test sites, our operations are rarely affected by extended periods of weather-related closures. We maintain high-quality, repeatable surface conditions and excellent operational availability throughout the testing season.
